Marine Designer

Apprentices selected for the program will transfer to design and into one of five areas of specialization:

1. Hull (Structural and Fittings)
2. Mechanical
3. Electrical
4. Piping
5. Nuclear

The Design Program is five years in length with the opportunity for merit advancement. Apprentices selected for the program will transfer to Design, moving from hourly to salaried classification. Once completed, the graduate will be classified as a Designer. Design apprentices will take courses specifically developed for the Marine Designer apprenticeship, including six semesters of academic work which will lead to a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree in either electrical or mechanical technology.
