Cost Estimator

Cost Estimators perform an important role within the Contracts and Pricing section of the Business Management organization. Cost estimators develop material and man-hour estimates, analyze and compare cost information for proposal variances, project funding progress, and compile estimate documentation to support contract negotiations Estimating apprentices participate in a 3-year rotational program that includes assignments in Contracts & Pricing, Operations Finance, Construction Planning, and Engineering Scoping. Estimating apprentices will spend time in change order groups, ship repair and new construction. Estimating apprentices will evaluate customer requirement documents, develop material and labor estimates, participate in job scope development and budget distribution, assist with planning workflow for trades departments and analyze performance to budget. Estimating apprentices will complete courses specifically developed for estimating, financial analysis and construction planning. Upon program completion, individuals will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to develop estimates and a well-rounded background that is favorably suited for future growth opportunities.
